Blinds Buying Guide Blinds have traditionally been sold for Kitchens and Bathrooms, but in recent times the colours, designs and styles available have made them an attractive alternative to Curtains or a backdrop too more traditional window treatments. Blinds can serve many purposes such as blocking light out in a simple action or too keep heat in, as well as being eye-catching in their own right plus being very cost effective and durable. We offer a huge range of Blackout Roller blinds which are ideal to cut out light in all rooms with some of our designs being ideal for children’s rooms. All our Blind ranges come from Sunflex who are specialists in Blinds, Tracks and Poles. Under the Sunflex banner you can find leading household Brand Names such as Sunlover, Swish and Harrison Drape so you can buy in confidence knowing the quality of products that this manufacturer produces. Roller Blinds Roller Blinds are made from fabrics which have been stiffened to make them more practicable and durable. All our Roller Blinds have a beaded side control for ease of use and a metal inner tube to give them far greater strength than other blinds available on the market-place. All our blinds can be trimmed to size and come with screws, brackets and an instruction leaflet for easy installation. We offer a variety of styles and designs within our Roller Blind range making our Blind section the most comprehensive ready made blind range available on the internet. Venetian Blinds All Venetian Blinds are made with horizontal slats that can be raised, lowered or tilted to adjust the amount of light you require for your room and for ease of access to your windows. All our current range of Venetian Blinds has 25mm Aluminum Slats which makes them far more durable than some cheaper plastic versions.
Measuring Guide
Blinds can be hung inside or outside recesses. All our blinds come with comprehensive instruction leaflets to make fitting easier for you, so please ensure that you read them before you start the installation process. Please note the following tips :-
Inside Recess
When hanging a blind inside a recess please ensure there are no obstructions so the blind can hang freely. Please ensure the recess is at least 75mm deep so it can accommodate the operating mechanisms with the blinds. We recommend measuring with a metal tape or ruler. Please remember that most windows are not as square as they appear so please measure the depth and width in several places so you can record the narrowest measurement so the blind can be cut to this size.
Outside Recess
Please decide how far you want the fabric to overlap on all sides. We feel that this should be at least 45mm. Remember always to add 38mm to the width for the operating mechanism. Please use a spirit level to ensure you have a straight line to hang the blind from.
Cutting to Size
Please read the instruction leaflet carefully before you start to cut any blinds. Please remember to deduct the size of the winding mechanism from your measurements before cutting any Roller Blind. Always use a mini hacksaw to cut the metal pole of a roller blind and sharp scissors or a cutting knife for the fabric. For Venetian Blinds we sell a 25mm Slat Cutter separately.
Care
All fabric blinds can be cleaned with feather or synthetic dusters or vacuumed with the upholstery brush attachment. Venetians can again be cleaned and dusted as above and we also sell a specialist Venetian Blind Cleaning tool to help. |
